In October of 2012, Brent E. Turvey completed his PhD in Criminology at Bond University, in Gold Coast Australia. His thesis, the culmination of three years of research, is titled: "Forensic Fraud: Evaluating law enforcement and forensic science cultures in the context of examiner misconduct". It examines and correlates the traits of fraudulent forensic
examiners (n=100) during 2000 to 2010; the nature of their fraud; their places of employment; and the impact of their misconduct. Findings support the assertion that forensic fraud tends to be the result of cultural, pathological, and systemic causes rather than the narrow motives of single individuals. Additionally, they support the assertion that those working on behalf of the state (the police and the prosecution) are responsible for a substantial amount, if not the majority, of publicly known cases of forensic fraud. Based on statistically significant findings, specific potentially causal factors are identified and discussed, and fraud management strategies are proposed. An adapted manuscript for this thesis has been accepted by Elsevier Science for publication as a textbook in 2013.

Calling all OCU graduates of sociology, criminal justice, justice studies, and the master's...OCU Sociology and Justice Studies Alumni countdown to homecoming: Nov. 3rd Sociology and Justice Studies will have a post-game tailgate cookout. Directly after the guys basketball game in Freede, about 4:30 or 5. We will be directly south of the gym. We will have all the food, but please bring a canned good for Northwest Classen's food pantry.

From Andrew Rose a teacher at Northwest CLassen...The food pantry started in 2009 when our teachers recognized a growing need from our students. Many came to their teachers asking for food, and some even expressed they didn’t have much to eat at home. Our population is close to 95% free/reduced price lunch. So we started the pantry and asked teachers to donate. The response was very positive, and since its inception, the food pantry has been stocked and maintained by the faculty and staff of NWC.
If you need anything other details, you can reach Andrew at [email protected]

WINNING START FOR LIONS

There was a winning start for the new-look London Lions as they hammered Team USA Select 108-66 at Crystal Palace on Saturday evening.

Adrien Sturt (pictured) led the way with 24 points and Tayo Ogedengbe added 22 for Vince Macaulay's side as they produced a dominant display.

Macaulay was understandably delighted with his side's victory: "We're happy to get our first win in London," he said.

"The players were fired up to show they're ready for BBL action, fans who travelled from Milton Keynes were really significant to the evening and I personally thank them for supporting us.

"On the floor there were a lot of pluses but we have a long way to go. Adrien Sturt was impressive, Orlan Jackman was electric, energising everyone, whilst Jordan Spencer's 12 point, four assist performance shows what we also plan for young English players."

Jackman added 21 points for the Lions as Macaulay's team beat a USA Select side made up of players from both of their rosters
