We're proud to share Dorothy A. Rhoades, M.D., M.P.H., has been named the 2026 Physician of the Year by the Association of American Indian Physicians.

A professor of medicine in the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine, Dr. Rhoades is a national leader in improving Native American health outcomes.

She serves as the inaugural director of the Native American Center for Cancer Health Excellence, housed within Stephenson Cancer Center and operated in partnership with the Harold Hamm Health Campus at the University of Oklahoma.

Lead on, Dr. Rhoades! ☝️

Congratulations to Dr. Robert Salinas, assistant dean of access and community engagement and professor of family and preventive medicine, on receiving a State of Oklahoma Citation of Recognition at the 2026 Oklahoma City Hispanic Festival.

The citation was put forward by Sen. Michael Brooks-Jimenez and Reps. Annie Menz, Sam Wargin Grimaldo and Arturo Alonso Sandoval.

The OU College of Medicine welcomed Dr. Amy Edmondson, Novartis Professor of Leadership and Management at Harvard Business School, for a special visit and conversation with our community.

Widely recognized for her pioneering research on psychological safety, Dr. Edmondson is also the author of "Right Kind of Wrong," which explores how individuals and organizations can learn from failure and use it as a catalyst for growth and innovation.

NEWS: University of Oklahoma College of Medicine has appointed Dr. Salar Faiazi, M.D., as Assistant Dean for Clinical Curriculum.

In this role, Dr. Faiazi will work with faculty, course and clerkship directors, campus leadership and students to strengthen clinical education and advance the college’s curriculum.

His leadership will help support the continued implementation of FrontierMD and ensure students receive a rigorous, innovative clinical education designed to prepare them for the evolving needs of health care.
