Labor Day Dining Hours

OCU families, if your student will be staying on campus over Labor Day weekend, please be aware that Dining Services will operate on modified hours for the holiday.

On Monday, September 7, the Cafeteria will serve brunch from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and dinner from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Kitchen 1904 will be closed Monday, September 7, and will reopen Tuesday, September 8, at 10:30 a.m.

Alvin’s Market will be closed Sunday, September 6, and will reopen Monday, September 7, at 4:00 p.m.

We encourage families to share these modified hours with their students so they can plan accordingly. We hope all of our OCU students and families have a safe and enjoyable Labor Day weekend!

OCU Parents and Families: A quick reminder as we wrap up the first week of classes!

The deadline for students to make changes to their Fall 2026 meal plan is Friday, August 28, at 5:00 p.m. CST. Changes requested after the deadline cannot be processed.

We encourage you to remind your student to review their student account and make sure their meal plan is correct for the semester.

If a change is needed, students can:

• Visit the Student Accounts Office on the third floor of the Administration Building, Room 340, with a valid form of ID.

• Email [email protected] from their OCU email address and include their name, Student ID number (B number), current meal plan, and the meal plan they would like to change to.

Please note that meal plan changes cannot be made through the housing portal or housing application. All changes must be completed directly through Student Accounts.

⭐ New Student Move-In is almost here! ⭐

We know many of our new OCU families are preparing for the big trip to campus to help their students move in, so here are the Move-In details you will need for this weekend:

Honors Early Move-In
Saturday, August 15 | 2:00–5:00 p.m.

President’s Leadership Class (PLC) Early Move-In
Sunday, August 16 | 8:00–9:00 a.m.

New Student Move-In
Sunday, August 16 | 9:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.

When you arrive on campus, please head directly to your student’s residence hall, where they will check in.

You will also have some extra hands to help with the heavy lifting! Members of OCU’s fraternity and sorority community will be serving as our Move-In Crew. They will help unload vehicles and take students’ belongings to their rooms.

We know Move-In Day is an exciting milestone for students and families alike, and we are looking forward to welcoming you to campus and helping your student begin their OCU journey.

⭐ OCU PARENTS & FAMILIES, IT IS ALMOST TIME FOR MATRICULATION⭐

One of OCU’s most meaningful traditions is almost here! Matriculation Convocation marks the official beginning of your student’s academic journey as an OCU Star, and we invite our parents and families to be part of this special moment.

• Wednesday, August 19
• Students arrive by no later than 8:45 a.m.
• Student lineup on the Quad Lawn
• Procession begins at 8:50 a.m.
• Convocation begins at 9:00 a.m.
• Kirkpatrick Auditorium

Parents and families are invited to line the processional route along Blackwelder Avenue and cheer on the Class of 2030 as they make their way from the Quad to Kirkpatrick Auditorium. Bring your OCU spirit and help us give our newest Stars a celebration to remember!

After the student procession passes, families should make their way to Kirkpatrick Auditorium for Matriculation Convocation.

Following the ceremony, join your student and the OCU community for a reception on the McDaniel University Center Patio and Quad.

OCU families, this is your moment, too. We cannot wait to celebrate your student and officially welcome the Class of 2030 into the academic community of OCU!

Join us for our Stars Week Parent & Family Welcome Reception on Monday, August 17, from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Wilson House.

This reception is an opportunity to:

⭐ Connect with other OCU parents and family members
⭐ Learn more about the OCU community and the support available to your student

In just a few short weeks, we will be welcoming our newest Stars to campus and kicking off their OCU journey with Stars Week!

Stars Week is designed to help new students build friendships, connect with faculty and staff, discover campus resources, and begin finding their place in the OCU community before classes begin. From move-in to traditions, service opportunities, and exciting evening activities, every experience is intentionally designed to help your student start their first year with confidence.

We know this is an exciting season for your family, and we cannot wait to partner with you as your student begins this new chapter.
