The 2027-2028 FAFSA form is open!

Sometimes inspiration comes from the places we expect. A professor. A coach. A friend.

And sometimes it comes from somewhere we never saw coming.

Sophomore Alexandria Mitchell shared that perspective in her Opening Convocation remarks, reflecting on how the people and experiences around us can shape who we become. A conversation with a friend. A campus job. An internship. A service project. Even a mistake or failure can teach us something about ourselves.

Her message is a good reminder to stay open to what we might discover along the way.

“College isn’t just about discovering what career we want. It’s also about discovering who we are, what motivates us, and the kind of person we want to become.”
