During Orientation Week, our incoming PT students had the opportunity to learn from their peers as five DPT students presented research projects completed through the PHYT 742 Summer Research Elective. These presentations highlighted the importance of research and evidence-based practice in physical therapy while providing an early introduction to the scholarly opportunities available within the UNMC Physical Therapy Program.

We are grateful to these students for sharing their work and helping welcome the next cohort of future physical therapists, demonstrating a commitment to advancing knowledge and addressing meaningful clinical questions that will shape the future of our profession. Individual projects and presenters are highlighted in the accompanying photos.

1. Tessa Futey presenting “Children’s Perceptions of Hand Arm Bimanual Training Through VR”

2. Riley Hoetfelker & Coby Speer presenting “Summer Research Experience: Data Collection for a Hop Testing Device”

3. Elissa Miller presenting “Tai Chi Intervention on Patients with Cancer”

4. Dylan Drost presenting "Holographic Instructor Presence in Multi Campus DPT Education"

5. Research Elective Students with Course Coordinator Liz Wellsandt, PT, DPT, PhD

Thank you to iEXCEL UNMC for helping make these presentations possible using the iWall and hologram technology!
