Special release!! 🚨 This week, we have a Graduate edition of the ⭐Student Spotlight⭐, Issue #7: Jonathan Koley (he/him/his) and his experience as a graduate student in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology. Read about his work on peer/consumer-driven research related to mental health with Dr. MacArthur and Dr. Irwin and his biggest takeaway on opportunity. We have a lot of undergraduate students in AKD, so it's great to hear from a graduate student about their passions and experiences as well. Thank you, Jon!

New release! 👀 We have Issue #6 of the ⭐Student Spotlight⭐, Senior Sociology Undergrad student, Sarah Cannon (she/her/hers) and her story on growth and perseverance during the pandemic. Read about her garden 🌱, what she has learned from it, and her advice for growth. Sarah's inspiring story helps us remember to find joy in the smaller things in life. New Issue Dropped! 📰 This week for Issue #5 of the ⭐Student Spotlight⭐, we have 3rd year Sociology Undergrad student, Jenika Jennings (she/her/hers) and her inspiring story on perseverance and hard work. Read about her successes, her research on the stigmatization of visible and invisible disabilities, her immigration story and support from her family and friends, and how she overcame college burnout. It's getting to a tough point in the semester, so Jenika's story teaches us that we should believe in ourselves and keep moving forward. Incredible story, Jenika! ❤️

A little late, but a big thank you to our speaker, John M. Jackson (M.Ed) for speaking at Part 2 of our Symposium on Social Issues on Wednesday, 3/10! We had interesting and enjoyable discussions on the history of resistance and cultural identity in Hip-Hop 🎵. Also, a big thank you to all who attended!

The UNO AKD is planning to have one more event this semester, where you will still have a chance to be entered into our raffle. Keep an eye out 👀 for that in the coming weeks!
