Dissertation Proposal Defense: Carol Redwing successfully defended her dissertation proposal in this spring. Carol is concurrently an instructor with UNO's UNO Emergency Management and Disaster Science program, as well as a doctoral candidate.

Her dissertation challenges the human-centered focus of public administration by introducing posthuman theory and Indigenous knowledge to address climate change and environmental injustice. The dissertation ultimately calls for environmental equity to be a core principle of public administration and urges more inclusive, restorative approaches to governance in the face of the climate crisis.

Well done, Carol! We look forward to this research.

So proud of our PHD candidates this spring! Today, we are featuring our fifth student, Dakota Caldwell, to have successfully defended a dissertation proposal. Titled "Neurodivergence in the In-Between Space", this research explores how neurodivergent individuals experience and navigate organizations in the "in-between space", such as nonprofits, voluntary associations, and social enterprises that operate between government and private business. The study uses a grounded theory methodology with semi-structured interviews to understand both the challenges and strengths that neurodivergent people bring to these organizations. We look forward to this research, Dakota.
