Congratulations once again to our graduates of Spring 2022!

While we are done with the academic year, we still have a couple more student spotlight features from Dr. Kachwala's WGS Capstone course.

Today we take a look at Alia Sharaan's final project. Alia created a blog titled "Confessions of an Arab woman," where she posted original artwork and poetry! Here's the link to the blog: https://asharaan412.wixsite.com/theconfessionsofan-1

Alia writes, "I am a Women's and Gender studies major! I enjoyed my time with SUNY Oneonta in this major and have met so many amazing people between students and faculty. I hope to continue working on helping to make this world a better place for everyone. I plan on becoming a mental health counselor in the future. I also plan on continuing to make poetry and artwork about aspects within our society to create a change."

Today we feature Liana Millan's project for Dr. Kachwala's WGS Capstone class.

Liana Millan is a graduating senior from SUNY Oneonta. She is a dual major in Women's and Gender Studies and Africana and Latinx Studies. Liana created a blog titled "Say No to Book Bans." Here's the link: https://saynotobookbans.blogspot.com/

She says that she "hopes to educate people about educational institutions banning diverse and intersectional books in K-12 classrooms through this blog. Her desire to create this project came from her own love for books and how influential they were for her in exploring her identity."

Continuing with our student spotlight, today, we share Cesia Arias Hernandez's project. Cesia created this website as part of the final project for Dr. Shahin Kachwala's WGS Capstone course. The website aims to raise awareness about reproductive rights in El Salvador specifically and Latin America more generally.

Cesia Arias Hernandez is a graduating senior majoring in Women's & Gender Studies & Political Science. She writes, "One of my major areas of interest is reproductive rights. Therefore, I based my capstone project on this topic. This project allowed me to learn more about activists and organizations that fight for people's reproductive rights. I hope to become an activist in this area, having an intersectional and transnational approach. I hope one day to make a difference in how people experience reproductive rights in Latin America."
