YOU are invited to hear from Artist David Hornung this April 7th at 11 a.m. in Fitzelle Hall room 246.

Hornung is a painter and collage artist whose work explores color, structure, and improvisation through painting and mixed media. His work has been widely exhibited in the United
States and abroad.

Hornung has taught painting, drawing, and color at institutions including the Rhode Island School of Design, Indiana University, Skidmore College, and Adelphi University.

He is the author of Color: A Workshop for Artists and Designers, which has been translated into six languages and is used in 2-D Design courses around the world and here at SUNY Oneonta.

Here are some photos from this past Fridays Art Career Day:

Students attended a Professional Panel where they could ask current Professors and an Alumni about their professional experiences. The discussion was lead by Abigail Fish and Mordue Reinhardt.

The middle of the day included a workshop titled “Mapping Your Creative Career” lead by NYFA representative Kelly Olshan. Students enjoyed setting career goals and steps to accomplish their goals.

The day was wrapped up with a student run Town Hall for the Art Department students lead by Abigail Fish the Art Student Ambassador. This session was an open conversation of how to improve the department and what students have been grateful for during their experience here.

Come down to the Project Space Gallery tonight to be amazed by the community printmaking show on display. Students Madison Budek, Sam Keefe, Violette O’Hara, and Ella Reynolds each have work in the exhibition that displays the expansive and experimental parts of printmaking.

ALL ARE ENCOURAGED come and hear from the artists themselves at the reception tonight from 5-7 p.m.

Eight SUNY Oneonta Digital and Studio Art students got an inside look at the art industry!

This past Wednesday, Feb. 25, during a field trip to Golden Artist Colors, an internationally acclaimed acrylic paint manufacturer.

Accompanied by Assistant Professor Ashley Cooper, the students met with Emma Golden, executive director of the Golden Foundation, and got a behind-the-scenes tour of the paint-making process. The field trip included a stop at 3D design and painting instructor Carrie Smith’s art studio in Gilbertsville, NY
