Another Nudibranch Sighting! We introduced the Nudibranch Berghia in June 2023. We decided to bring them into the Ocean Biome because this specific type primarily eat aphasia which over time have become a problem in the Bioshere 2 Ocean. It is always a treat to see the Nudibranch in the Ocean.

The pink peacock flower is a striking beauty in the desert biome. These shrubs can grown to about ten to fifteen feet tall and about six to twelve feet wide. Thriving in full sunlight, peacock flowers are an excellent way to add bold color to your garden. Even better, they attract hummingbirds, butterflies, and bees so by planting one, you’re not just enhancing your space, you’re also supporting local pollinators.

Frankincense a member of the Burseracea family is a drought tolerant plant that can be found in the supper savanna of Biosphere 2. Frankincense is native to parts of Africa, India, and the Arabian Peninsula. These trees prefer well draining soil and full sun. Frankincense can be used to ease pain relief, respiratory issues and for aromatherapy.

The Prickly Poppy is a thistle like plant native to the Southwest. The Prickly Poppy is know by other common names like the Cowboys Fried Egg. These plants have adapted to thrive in places like the Southwest, they thrive in rocky well draining soils and prefer full sun. Though the Prickly Poppy is know as Cowboys Fried Egg this plant can be poisonous to human and pets.

The cockroachs found the fruit of an Epipremnum plant and are snacking away without a care in the world. No tummy troubles here, cockroaches are built to breakdown all kinds of organic matter and they return all the nutrients back to the soil. They are the master decomposers that we need to keep the biomes healthy.

The sandbox tree can be found in the rainforest biome of Biosphere 2. It is native to North and South America. The sandbox tree has a few common names it is know by like possum wood, dynamite tree and monkey no-climb. The sandbox tree is an evergreen tree in the Euphorbiaceae family. The sap of these trees can cause skin rashes so when admiring be careful to not get the sap on your skin or eyes. The sandbox tree are some of the largest trees in tropical America.
