As we recognize the historical significance of July 4, we also acknowledge the complex realities of our democracy today. “We have come over a way that with tears has been watered….We have come, treading our path through the blood of the slaughtered, Out from the gloomy past, Till now we stand at last, Where the white gleam of our bright star is cast” (Lift Every Voice). Now more than ever, we must continue the fight for a future where "liberty and justice for all" is not just a promise but a lived reality.
May we continue to rise to meet this moment, shaping a more just and equitable nation where all can survive, thrive, and be free.
