The winter solstice time is no longer celebrated as it once was. This is a natural period of rest, of going within our homes, within ourselves and taking in all that we have been through, all that has happened in the year that has ended; like nature and the animal kingdom around us, hibernation is necessary for our tired limbs, our burdened minds.

The break between semesters can be kind. It points us towards our inner self, towards a time of peace and reflection, embracing the darkness, accepting our accomplishments, and perhaps missteps, of the past year. Winter break takes away the distractions, the buzz, and presents us with the perfect time to rest and withdraw.

And then, just around the corner, a new semester will begin. Like a seed planted deep in the earth, we will all rise with renewed energy to once again turn toward the sunlight, and begin the work of enlightening the mind throughout the spring season. Rest well for now…return energized

Participating in the annual Holiday Toy Drive in support of Saint Dominics Family Services provides us a reminder that the season is greater than each individual. It takes ALL of us! And together, look what we were able to accomplish. Holiday Blessings to all! 🎄❄️✨

Thank you to the generous students, faculty, and staff who donated to our Holiday Toy and Gift Drive.🎁 The Dominican University Social Work Program, the Phi Alpha Honor Society and the Office of Mission and Ministry sponsored the drive to benefit the children at Saint Dominics Family Services. We're hoping the toys make the children's holidays a little brighter. 🎄🌟
