THIS DAY IN ARMY HISTORY — 1933

93 years ago today, First Army was reactivated at Fort Jay, New York.

Its early mission focused on training and readiness for the Army National Guard and Reserve helping prepare Soldiers before they were called upon for something bigger.

A decade later, First Army would help prepare and train forces that went on to play a major role in Operation Overlord and the D-Day invasion. 🪖🌊

That history is a reminder that readiness doesn't happen overnight. It’s built through preparation, training, teamwork, and the people who help you get ready for the next mission.

🎓 That idea carries over to today.

For our Veterans and military-affiliated students at UVU, the next mission may look very different earning a degree, starting a career, supporting a family, or finding your next purpose.

MASH is here to help you prepare for that mission.

TODAY WE REMEMBER A HERO
September 29, 2006 — Ramadi, Iraq
Today marks 20 years since Navy SEAL Michael A. Monsoor gave his life protecting his teammates.
During a rooftop engagement in Ramadi, a gr***de landed near Monsoor and his fellow SEALs. He moved onto the gr***de, absorbing the blast and saving the lives of his teammates. He was 25 years old.

For his extraordinary courage, Monsoor was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor, our nation’s highest military decoration for valor in combat.

Today, we remember Michael Monsoor and the countless service members who placed themselves between danger and their teammates.

For our Veterans and student Veterans at UVU, his story is also a reminder of something many who have served understand:
You never leave your people behind.

That commitment doesn’t end when the uniform comes off. It continues in our classrooms, our communities, and the way we support one another.
Remember. Honor. Serve.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for today’s Equine Ride! 🐎 We hope you enjoyed the horses, the scenery, the laughs, and a little time to relax, reconnect, and recharge.

80 years ago today, Operation Market Garden launched the largest airborne operation in history, putting airpower, communications, logistics, and coordination to the ultimate test.

Just three years later, on September 18, 1947, the U.S. Air Force was officially born. ✈️

Tomorrow, we celebrate 79 years of the Air Force at MASH! 🎉
