🎉 Congratulations to SGHMI’s very own Dr. Amanda Walden! 🎉

Dr. Walden has been awarded Fellow status by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) and is now officially FAHIMA!

The AHIMA Fellowship recognizes members who have made significant and sustained contributions to the health information management profession. Fellows exemplify AHIMA’s mission to “empower people to impact health” through advocacy, innovation, and knowledge sharing.

Want to hear from one of our grads making a big mark as a healthcare leader?

You're invited to attend a special Homecoming event featuring Rashard Johnson, ’04 ’06MA as he shares his inspiring journey from childhood in Miami, to playing football at UCF for four years, earning his bachelor's in health sciences and master's in health administration, and ultimately reaching the healthcare C-suite.

Johnson is currently Chairman of Power Circle Enterprises, LLC and holds the executive leadership position of Chairman & CEO at Gorilla Equity, LLC. Prior to this role, he served as President of Atrium Health Navicent’s Central Georgia Market and was responsible for the oversight of the health system’s six facilities in Georgia. Johnson has over 20 years of healthcare experience leading health system operations and implementing market-focused business plans to drive enterprise-wide strategies.

Copies of Johnson’s book, He’s Just a Baby!, will be available at the event, with an opportunity to have books personally signed. Alumni, students, faculty, staff and friends are all welcome to attend.

This group of industry leaders and educators from UCF and Seminole State College of Florida work behind the scenes to help students gain the skills employers need in today's evolving healthcare landscape.

The members of the UCF and Seminole State Health Informatics and Information Management Advisory Board are ensuring there’s a strong pathway from an associate degree in health information technology to a bachelor's degree in health information management.

We are grateful for their expertise and their commitment.

Together, we’re preparing the next generation of professionals who will improve healthcare through data, technology, and information management.

We know healthcare is better with a team-based, collaborative approach.

A curriculum-embedded interprofessional education (IPE) program for CHPS students will be piloted this year to help our students prepare for careers with exactly this in mind.

This program kicked off last week with a social event complete with pizza, IPE bingo and a visit from Knightro. The goal for students was to learn about the roles and responsibilities of their peers in other health disciplines and communicate collaboratively and effectively.

What’s ahead for the program? We’ll introduce healthcare delivery topics such as social determinants of health and trauma-informed care, focusing on how these topics support patient care, and how interprofessional collaborative practice can further improve health outcomes.

It's official! The School of Global Health Management and Informatics has transitioned to the UCF College of Health Professions and Sciences (CHPS).

The move aligns two key areas of UCF that excel in preparing future healthcare professionals and leaders.

“This is an innovative, forward-looking school that shares our commitment to student success,” says Dean Matthew Theriot. “There is a tremendous potential to build on our collective strengths, create new opportunities for students to learn across disciplines, enhance faculty research collaborations, and for our expanded college to make an even greater impact on the health and well-being of our communities.”

CHPS is a leader in health education, research, clinical practice and service, and is home to nationally recognized degree programs which include health sciences, athletic training, physical therapy, kinesiology, social work and communication sciences and disorders.
