We know healthcare is better with a team-based, collaborative approach.

A curriculum-embedded interprofessional education (IPE) program for CHPS students will be piloted this year to help our students prepare for careers with exactly this in mind.

This program kicked off last week with a social event complete with pizza, IPE bingo and a visit from Knightro. The goal for students was to learn about the roles and responsibilities of their peers in other health disciplines and communicate collaboratively and effectively.

What’s ahead for the program? We’ll introduce healthcare delivery topics such as social determinants of health and trauma-informed care, focusing on how these topics support patient care, and how interprofessional collaborative practice can further improve health outcomes.

It's official! The School of Global Health Management and Informatics has transitioned to the UCF College of Health Professions and Sciences (CHPS).

The move aligns two key areas of UCF that excel in preparing future healthcare professionals and leaders.

“This is an innovative, forward-looking school that shares our commitment to student success,” says Dean Matthew Theriot. “There is a tremendous potential to build on our collective strengths, create new opportunities for students to learn across disciplines, enhance faculty research collaborations, and for our expanded college to make an even greater impact on the health and well-being of our communities.”

CHPS is a leader in health education, research, clinical practice and service, and is home to nationally recognized degree programs which include health sciences, athletic training, physical therapy, kinesiology, social work and communication sciences and disorders.

🎉 Congratulations are in order for Parul Naib! She was recently recognized as one of the Oral Presentation Winners at the AAPI Convention and Scientific Assembly: Research Symposium for her research on healthcare claims denials.

Her award-winning study found that more than half of claim denials are driven by preventable administrative issues and demonstrated how machine learning can help identify denial risk, paving the way for more efficient claims management and improved healthcare outcomes.
