Hispanic Heritage is pride, it’s history, it’s a part of who I am. Without my roots, I’d be someone completely different!

I am proud to be of Cuban descent because the culture is all I’ve ever known! I love the lingo, the food, the music… One of my favorite things about my culture is that every New Year’s Eve we burn all the “bad away” by creating a stuffie full of old clothes from every one in the community!

To me, Hispanic Heritage means family. My favorite tradition is cooking with my family!

Being multi-racial-ethnic, Hispanic Heritage has been something I have had to give my own meaning to. I’ve taken the stories I’ve heard from my dad and further informed myself about it by diving deep into my culture through education, due to the physical distance from my Venezuelan roots. Everything I am is from my culture — I wear it with pride— and no one can ever take that away from me!

My Hispanic Heritage means representing my family through my actions and experiences. I carry my Puerto Rican heritage with pride and make sure everyone I meet knows where I come from. I express my culture through my loved ones, the food I grew up with, and the music I listen to. These things keep me connected to my roots and remind me of the importance of my family, traditions, and identity. Being Puerto Rican is a part of who I am, and I love sharing that part of myself with others!
