We’re just a few days away from Cohort 22’s final capstone game presentations! Our fourth team to present on Friday has created a multiplayer Norse arena-brawler. Luckily, finding enough people to test this 4-on-4 in our largest cohort enrolled at FIEA has been easier than expected.

△ Mythbound by Skaldforge

Mythbound is a competitive multiplayer PvP arena-brawler in a Norse world. Contestants known as “the bound” have given their souls to Helheim for a chance to compete for glory. Thrust into the arenas of Himinbjorg, Midgard, and Helheim, the bound use a combination of parkour, brutal melee combat, and godly abilities to brawl against one another. The Relic, a gift bestowed upon by Odin, serves as the main objective in the premiere 4 vs 4 game mode, Relic Rush.

✨ Capstone Week is here! ✨ Cohort 22 is in the final stretch before they present their capstone games to earn their Master of Science in Interactive Entertainment. We're dropping trailers each day all week!

Kicking things off with Ravenous Sky by Wanderlust Studios. This will be the first of five teams to present on Friday. Check out the trailer ▶️

⛏️ Ravenous Sky presented by Wanderlust Studios

Ravenous Sky is a third-person action-adventure game set on floating islands trapped inside a massive, ever-consuming storm. Players use a wing suit, pickaxe, and wind-based movement mechanics to navigate dangerous skies, climb collapsing terrain, and survive violent weather conditions. As they journey between the safety of the storm’s eye and the chaos of its outer rings, players uncover a world shaped by loss, abandonment, and the struggle between holding on and moving forward. The game blends atmospheric exploration, traversal challenges, and cinematic storm encounters to create a fast-paced, but emotional adventure.

🎓 Quest complete: Erik Sand has officially added Ph.D. to his player stats.

Join us in congratulating our very own GameLab instructor and Director of Strategic Partnerships, Erik Sand, on earning his Ph.D. in Modeling and Simulation from UCF!

Erik participated in the doctoral hooding ceremony two weeks ago at the UCF College of Sciences commencement ceremony at Addition Financial Arena.

Already holding a B.S., M.S. in Engineering, and an MBA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Erik’s latest achievement reflects his passion for innovation, research, and education.

His dissertation explored how novice drivers with autism respond behaviorally, visually, and physiologically to game-based hazard perception training in a driving simulator. His findings revealed highly individualized learning patterns, reinforcing the importance of flexible, personalized approaches to driver training and assessment for autistic learners.

We’re proud to celebrate Erik’s accomplishment and the meaningful impact of his research. Please join us in congratulating Dr. Sand! 👏

From 3D-printed wearables to immersive simulations of space and history, Cohort 22’s GameLab projects demonstrated how game development skills can translate into meaningful tools for education, research, and community engagement. Last week's showcase highlighted a window into the solar system, a projection-mapped artistic creation rooted in local history, and a role-playing experience grounded in historical event. Congrats to all the Cohort 22 students and SMEs on their prototypes!

More on all eight projects:

Eight teams demonstrated a variety of interactive prototypes at Wednesday’s final GameLab presentations in the Bridge. FIEA’s 90 students in Cohort 22 experimented with interactive tech and physical mediums to build innovative solutions in industries outside of gaming. Led by FIEA Director of St...
