Philosophy student Samuel Pleitez Duran completed the Museum Studies internship in Spring 2026 with the Orange County Regional History Center. Trainings in Humanities & Cultural Studies helped him craft an original assessment model called "CARIE" that evaluates student engagement and learning retention based on the museum's exhibits. He was also featured in the OCRHC July 2026 Newsletter.

The department also offers an internship with AdventHealth. These internships are service-learning (SL) designated and emphasize experiential learning and real-world applications. Prior coursework in Humanities, Religion, and Philosophy is required.

We are excited to share that Dr. Gentry will now be teaching PHI 5329 - Philosophy of Neuroscience in Fall 2026!

This course explores fascinating questions including:
• How does the brain explain behavior?
• Can we localize functions in the brain?
• What can neuroimaging tell us about the brain?
• How similar are large language models (LLMs) and brains?
• What kind of thing(s) is a brain, anyway?

The Philosophy B.A. program centers on the principles of knowledge, responsibility and society. It provides students with opportunities to investigate the connections between intellectual pursuits and moral and public virtue.
