At our Rehabilitation Innovation Center, a unique pilot program is incorporating hologram technology and AI avatars to help give students the experience of interacting with actual patients.

“Somebody who has maybe some mobility challenges or other health-related challenges, it isn’t necessarily safe or easy for them to come to campus,” says Associate Dean of Clinical Affairs and Healthcare Innovation Bari Hoffman. So AI and hologram technology have allowed the college "to create something that is reproducible across programs, across days, across semesters; it allows us to really scale those experiences,” she says.

The results are in! Our Master of Athletic Training students continue to excel on the Board of Certification examination. The newly released 2024-25 report from the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) highlights our students' strong performance on this key credentialing exam required to enter the profession with a 100% overall pass rate over the last three years! We're proud of our students, and grateful for the dedicated faculty and clinical partners who help prepare them to make an impact as healthcare professionals.

UCF is designing technology to help everyday life for every age range.

More than half of older adults in America say technology isn’t designed with their age in mind, while many lack confidence in their digital skills.

Xiayu Summer Chen, assistant professor of social work, is exploring how AI can help close that gap, including research focused on supporting caregivers of people with Alzheimer’s and dementia.

Her work is helping explore what a more accessible, human-centered future for AI could look like.

Want to hear from one of our grads making a big mark as a healthcare leader?

You're invited to attend a special Homecoming event featuring Rashard Johnson, ’04 ’06MA as he shares his inspiring journey from childhood in Miami, to playing football at UCF for four years, earning his bachelor's in health sciences and master's in health administration, and ultimately reaching the healthcare C-suite.

Johnson is currently Chairman of Power Circle Enterprises, LLC and holds the executive leadership position of Chairman & CEO at Gorilla Equity, LLC. Prior to this role, he served as President of Atrium Health Navicent’s Central Georgia Market and was responsible for the oversight of the health system’s six facilities in Georgia. Johnson has over 20 years of healthcare experience leading health system operations and implementing market-focused business plans to drive enterprise-wide strategies.

Copies of Johnson’s book, He’s Just a Baby!, will be available at the event, with an opportunity to have books personally signed. Alumni, students, faculty, staff and friends are all welcome to attend.

Join us on Thursday, Oct. 15 at UCF Downtown (DPAC, Room 106). Doors open for networking and refreshments at 5:30 p.m. and the presentation begins at 6 p.m.
