It’s a way of life that started in high school and continues to guide his decisions as he nears the completion of his bachelor’s degree in ecology and environmental science at the University of Maine.

We are happy to announce that the Northern Maine Children's Water Festival will be taking place on October 13, 2026. This fun water-themed event is for 4th, 5th and 6th grande students to engage in hands-on learning about topics including lakes, habitats, aquatic life, and groundwater. UMaine's School of Forest Resources invite you to participate in a Mitchell Center research project about the use of prescribed fire in Maine.

You are invited to attend a Learn & Burn event at the Demeritt Forest in Orono, ME, to observe a prescribed burn from a safe distance. The burn window will be selected to maximize land management objectives and safety, with the likeliest burn window in the middle of May (17th -23rd).

As part of this event, the research team will be collecting several kinds of data, including a short pre/post-test survey and observational data during the burn.
