✨ Adjunct Spotlight: Hannah Dyer, BSN, RN ✨

Meet Hannah Dyer, BSN, RN, who teaches NUR 201: Care of the Adults I for the University of Maine School of Nursing.

Hannah’s path to nursing began while working as an activities assistant at a local retirement community while pursuing an English degree. Through that experience, she discovered a passion for holistic, patient-centered care and ultimately added Nursing as a second major, graduating from UMaine in 2022.

What Hannah loves most about nursing is the opportunity for continual growth, critical thinking, teamwork, and caring for vulnerable patients. Since graduating, she has worked as an Emergency Department nurse at a Level II Regional Trauma Center and returned to UMaine in 2024 to pursue her Family Nurse Practitioner degree.

As a lifelong Mainer and proud UMaine alumna, Hannah chose to teach because she wanted to give back to the program that helped shape her into the nurse and future advanced practice provider she is today. She is currently in her first semester teaching clinicals and says she has loved every second of it.

When she’s not working, learning, or teaching, Hannah enjoys spending time near the water, reading, with her dog Layla and making memories with her family.

Thank you, Hannah, for your dedication to nursing education and for inspiring the next generation of nurses! 💙🐻

🌟 Congratulations to Sabrina Lopez! 🌟

The School of Nursing is proud to recognize Sabrina Lopez for her outstanding commitment to service, leadership, and advocacy.

Sabrina’s ultimate goal as a nurse is to ensure that every individual feels seen, valued, and never alone. Throughout her four years at the University of Maine, she has demonstrated this commitment through meaningful service to the School of Nursing, the university, and the broader community.

As a dedicated Best Buddies volunteer, Sabrina spent four years helping to foster inclusion and end social isolation for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. In her role as Vice President of the Orono Student Nurses Association, she coordinated the creation and distribution of homeless care kits for local shelters, making a direct impact on community members in need.

In 2025, Sabrina expanded her service efforts internationally by traveling to Panama, where she helped provide medical supplies and care to underserved and vulnerable populations.

Sabrina’s compassion, leadership, and dedication to serving others embody the values of the nursing profession. Congratulations on this well-deserved recognition! 💙🩺

✨Adjunct Spotlight✨

Meet Ashley Hadley, FNP-C!

Ashley has been teaching with the University of Maine School of Nursing for over 4 years as an adjunct faculty member, supporting students in health assessment, interventions lab, clinical experiences, and wherever she is needed each semester.

💙 What Ashley loves most about nursing is the ability to make a small difference in a patient or family member’s life through comfort, support, and education. Her passion for nursing began after her mother experienced a stroke when Ashley was 17 years old, combined with her lifelong desire to help others.

📚 Ashley teaches for UMaine because she values the incredible team atmosphere and the commitment to helping students become the very best nurses they can be.

🐾 Fun Facts:
Ashley has two crazy cats, a 1.5-year-old wild child, and a “big kid” spouse who all keep her busy! She is passionate about helping students grow into compassionate, competent nurses who can care for patients during vulnerable moments.

Meet Victoria Sanborn, RN, MSN 💙

Victoria has been a nurse for 6 years, spending her career as a dedicated Med-Surg nurse at SVH. She recently graduated from University of Maine with her Master’s degree in 2025 and has been teaching for UMaine for the past 3 years. She currently teaches NUR 302 and NUR 306.

“What I love most about being a nurse is when a patient or family thanks you for what you have done for them. When they truly appreciate you, it makes all the hard work worth it and reminds you why you became a nurse.”

One of Victoria’s favorite parts of teaching is watching students grow and seeing the excitement when they connect what they are learning in the classroom to what they are experiencing in the clinical setting. Those moments of confidence and understanding are what make teaching so rewarding.

Nursing is more than skills and knowledge — it’s compassion, connection, and helping others through some of their hardest moments. 💛
