Happy Wellness Wednesday Titans! The summer is coming to an end faster than all of us would like!
We want to make you aware we recommend you review you MMR vaccination status. There are currently 50 active (and 7 more suspected) cases of Measles in the southwest part of the state.

We do NOT have any cases on campus.

Why do we care then? 49 of the 50 people were NOT vaccinated against Measles (MMR vaccine). Measles is highly contagious if you have not been vaccinated, so much so that 90+% of unvaccinated people will develop measles if they are exposed. We may have students from that area in the fall or we may have students that travel to that area during the fall. We would like you all protected.
-It is spread through the air
-It can linger in the air for up to 2 hours after someone with measles has left the area
-It can take weeks to develop symptoms.
What are the symptoms?
-Fever of 101 or higher
-Cough, runny nose, or conjunctivitis
-Rash that is red, slightly raised, and starts at the hairline and works down the body.
Some people handle this very well. Some people get very sick. Death can be an outcome for some. This is the reason the MMR vaccination was created, to help prevent deaths.
We encourage you to make sure that you have had your measles vaccinations (MMR- 2 doses). If you need them you can get them through your primary care provider or a pharmacy.
We want you here in class, not home sick!

We will start off the year in Radford Hall (where we have been) and then between mid September and mid October we will be moving and opening in Lincoln Hall. No official date yet, we are patiently watching progress and slowly packing things away that we can. Can't wait to see everyone back on campus and have you see our new space! ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ–ค
