Founded in 2014, the Alta Resources Center for Entrepreneurship & Innovation exists to inspire, educate, and develop entrepreneurial leaders through world-class education, cutting-edge research and applied preparation, mentorship, and public recognition. Recipient of the 2014 Emerging Entrepreneurship Center by the Global Consortium of Entrepreneurship Centers (GCEC).

A college competition turned into a real business for Devan McCready! 🥋

In 2022, Devan won the Culver Business Model Competition with an idea focused on making karate more inclusive for students with learning and physical disabilities. She then took her idea to the next round, The Pitch, and won again!

Today, that idea has become a real business: Karate America Appleton East/Darboy. Devan works to create an inclusive karate environment where every student can learn, participate and grow.

And the best part? Devan wasn’t a business student. She simply believed in her idea and had the passion to see where it could take her. Her story is a great example of what can happen when you take a chance on an idea and put it out there. That’s what the Culver Business Model Competition is all about! 🚀
