Electronics Recycling & Paper Shredding: September 19, Saturday 9am-noon. SM South Highschool 5800 W. 107th St. Check out the link for more event details.

Our friends at City of Overland Park, Kansas Government are hosting an electronics recycling & paper shredding event on Saturday, September 19th from 9am-noon at SM South High School (5800 W. 107th St.). Open to all residents.
Recycle your electronics (computers, TVs, phones, rechargeable batteries, etc.), small appliances (microwaves, toasters) and most items powered with a cord or battery. No large appliances (full-size refrigerators, washing machines, etc.). Documents for shredding will also be accepted for a suggested donation of $5 per box.
Charges for electronics: CRT monitors ($5), CRT TVs ($30), Projection TVs ($30), and LCD TVs ($20). Cash or card accepted
Documents will be shredded on-site.

Construction Debris Drop-Off: September 19, 8:00 am-2:00pm. Location: Shawnee Mission South High School 5800 W. 107th St. Overland Park, KS 66207. Residents are limited to one visit and no more than a truck and medium trailer amount of waste. Staff will be available to assist with unloading, but residents should be prepared to unload their material at the event. Examples of accepted waste are old decking, fencing, lumber, railroad ties, and other construction and demolition debris.

Disposing of old decking, fencing, lumber, railroad ties and other construction and demolition debris can be difficult. We can take some of those items off your hands.

The school year is getting ready to start soon! Don't forget to go through your school supplies from last year and see what is still useable.

It’s fun to get all new school supplies, but it’s better for the earth if you reuse what you already have. The markers, pencils, scissors and bottle of glue from last year will work as good as new.

You’ll also save some money!

You can recycle block foam, but not through your curbside collection program.
Drop-off opportunities are available through various service providers around the region.
