Last weekend, first-year students in the entrepreneurship living learning community spent 48 hours brainstorming, collaborating, and eventually pitching start-up ideas to upperclassmen and industry professionals. The top six teams all took home some form of cash reward for their work, including $5,000 to the top team.

Yesterday's FYIC Faux-ster Presentations were all business (sort of).

First-year honors students presented their findings on emerging international markets and cultural differences in business practices, providing the best path forward for a client interested in international expansion.

Who says meeting prep needs to be stressful?

This group of students was spotted meeting outside before their first mini client challenge as part of the First-Year Integrated Core (FYIC)! The mini client challenge allows students to test their skills and receive real feedback before embarking on the expansive client consulting challenge that takes place over the final five weeks of the semester.

Homecoming is about returning to the places that shaped us and reconnecting with the people who made those places feel like home.

For the Wieland family, Farmer serves as a home away from home. Matt Wieland is an accounting professor, his son Emerson is an accounting student, and his twin daughters, Corinne and Ella, are beginning their own Farmer journeys as first-year students.

As Miamians return to Oxford this weekend, their story reminds us that home can be a campus, a community and a tradition shared by an entire family.
