Wednesday April 22 a group of students were able to join Dr. Ana Guadalupe Olvera Arellano de la Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Hidalgo en México for a lunch to discuss her research on bioethics and her new book on the Right to Personal Data Portability and Its Impact on Guaranteeing the Right to Health Portability. This discussion was conducted fully in Spanish, giving students the opportunity to ask questions and learn in a professional context.

Check your emails to sign up to have lunch next Wednesday April 22nd from 12-1 with Dra. Ana Guadalupe Olvera Arellano, Professor of Law at la Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Hidalgo and author of “El derecho a la portabilidad de datos personales y su impact en la garantía del derecho a la salud.” The lunch will be completely in Spanish and will be moderated by Drs. The Croft Institute would like to congratulate two of our alumni, McDaniel Wicker and William E. Wildman III, for being members of the Ole Miss 2026 class of 40 under 40! The Ole Miss Alumni Association annually recognizes forty alumni under the age of forty for their professional and philanthropic achievements.

McDaniel, Senior Vice President of U.S. Government at Babel Street, has been recognized for his leadership in driving major growth at the company and his impactful work in national security and foreign policy. As well as his extensive service in the U.S. Air Force and dedication to global security.

William, an Associate at Baker Donelson in New Orleans, has been recognized for his work in complex civil litigation and white-collar law across multiple industries, as well as his strong leadership, dedication to pro bono service, and commitment to his local community.

This semester, the Croft Institute has had two informational luncheons by two of our professors on their topics of extensive research and an upcoming internship. Dr. Centallas spoke about her extensive research on Bolivia and Colombia; she also spoke about a unique internship opportunity in Colombia this upcoming summer! Dr. Ibrahim spoke about her research into Egyptian heritage as a tool for modern diplomacy, economic strategy, and global visibility during the Cold War. Thank you to our professors for your time and devotion!
