We'd like to welcome our new faculty member, Assistant Professor of Physics and Astronomy, Kayla DeHolton. Dr. DeHolton works on the IceCube experiment located in Antarctica at the NSF’s Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station. This cubic-kilometer neutrino telescope detects the extremely rare interactions of high energy neutrinos. Dr. DeHolton’s research uses atmospheric neutrinos and machine learning techniques to study a peculiar phenomenon known as "neutrino oscillations” in which neutrinos change flavor as they travel. Dr. DeHolton previously served as co-convener of the Neutrino Oscillation Working Group in IceCube.

Graduate student and soon-to-be alumnus Kovida Goonathilake is moving on after completing his MS. Kovida will start a PhD program in biomedical engineering at Penn State in a few weeks. Kovida's research advisor was Prof Cecille Labuda. Good bye and good luck Kovida! We'll miss you!
