In a field where professionals often move from campus to campus, Amanda Yu-Nguyen chose to stay. For more than 15 years, the Oxford community has shaped her work, and in turn, she has helped shape the student experience.

To many students, that experience can feel like a steep, relentless climb. It’s a metaphor Yu-Nguyen knows well. Having summited Mount Kilimanjaro, one of the world’s Seven Summits, she brings those lessons of perseverance and balance into her role as Director of the Center for Healthful Living.

Celebrating Excellence at Oxford College. Proud to see Oxford College shine in Emory’s 2026 faculty and staff awards presented at the Oxford College Commencement. Two outstanding educators were recognized for their exceptional commitment to teaching and student success:

Sarah Higinbotham, Associate Professor of English — honored with the Emory Williams Distinguished Undergraduate Teaching Award for her transformative impact in the classroom.

Cristina Tarazona, Associate Teaching Professor of Spanish — recipient of the Vulcan Materials Company Teaching Excellence Award, celebrating her dedication to innovative, student centered learning.

Their achievements reflect the heart of Oxford’s mission: empowering students through extraordinary teaching. Presenting the awards is Erin Tarver, Interim Senior Associate Dean of Academic Affairs.

Oxford College of Emory University joins the broader Emory community in welcoming Christopher L. Augostini as the university’s 22nd president.

A longtime leader at Emory, Augostini currently serves as executive vice president and chief operating officer and was selected following a national search that engaged voices from across the university community. His deep understanding of Emory’s mission, combined with his collaborative leadership and extensive experience, positions him well to guide the university into its next chapter.

We look forward to partnering with President Augostini as we continue to advance Oxford’s distinctive academic experience and strengthen the pathways that connect our students to the wider Emory community.

Emory Over 40 Network Pickleball Party | Sunday, May 31 | 11:30AM–1:30PM
Join your fellow Emory alumni for a fun afternoon of pickleball. This event is hosted by the APIDA, Atlanta Young Alumni, and Latin Alumni Networks and is open to ALL Emory alumni, which means it's a great chance to connect with folks across the Atlanta community.

Never played before? No problem — there will be someone on hand to teach beginners. Bring your own paddle if you have one, but loaners will be available.
