Happy Halloween everybody!
Have you ever heard the story of the spirits of Kilcawley Hall?
Kilcawley Hall was originally known as Murray Library when it was dedicated in 1908. The photo you see is from 1935 when it was still the Library. It has actually been home to many things – various college offices as well as the historic Indian Museum. This only adds to the reports of strange things happening within the buildings walls.
There have been reports of strange things…coffee cups that were usually neatly stored would be randomly thrown all over the room. And coffee pots turned off and on mysteriously. The secretaries here at the time swear they would have never done this. The building was locked and nobody else was inside… how did this happen?
An employee, Kim, notes another disturbing occurrence that cannot be explained. Kim claims that a book flew off the center of her bookshelf and landed on the floor in front of her. This book was none other than Burton Morgan’s ANECDOTES. Mr. Morgan had recently agreed to chair our capital campaign when he unexpectedly died and was not able to make his contribution. Was he trying to send her a message?
The Indian Museum has its own tales. It was located in the basement of Kilcawley Hall. Anne Dewald, the museum director, reported that the motion sensors in the museum would go off in the middle of the night for seemingly no reason. And artifacts would often be moved around from case-to-case overnight. Suspecting a faulty system, they installed a brand new, state-of-the-art sensor only to find that something unexplained was setting off the sensor again! Could it have been a spirit protecting the ancient artifacts?
Could there be a connection between the mysteries happening upstairs and the strange occurrences downstairs? What do you think?
