The Polar Geophysics Group at the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory of Columbia University in New York.

We are involved in airborne geophysical campaigns at both poles, in collaboration with a host of US and international partners. We are a research group within the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory of Columbia University in the City of New York.

A meeting with fishermen in the community was held to discuss the value of the data to them, and to work with them to install a long term tide gauge.

Kullorsuaq, a beautiful community in northwest Greenland on Baffin Bay. A week of time seemed to go by so quickly. But here is a ‘set the scene’ post. ❤️

Traveling north on Greenland’s west coast. The ice and clouds blend together. We head from Upernavik today to Kullorsuaq our furthest north destination. We hope to install a tide gauge there and work in the school.

Greenland Rising is working with school groups and holding community meetings this month in 3 western Greenland communities. We started in Nuuk and are now in Aasiaat where we collected data from the community tide gauge and look forward to meetings and classroom time!
