A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us earlier this week for our ribbon-cutting ceremony on our McKenzie campus! Your presence, support, and shared excitement made this occasion truly special.

This project represents so much more than a new building or a completed construction project. It represents opportunity, growth, and a lasting investment in the future of technical education in our region. The impact will be felt for generations as we continue preparing students with the skills, knowledge, and hands-on training they need to build successful careers and strengthen our local workforce.

We are incredibly grateful to the many partners, community leaders, supporters, and individuals whose vision, commitment, and hard work helped make this milestone possible. It takes a community to make a vision a reality, and we are proud of what we have accomplished together!

The future of technical education is bright, and we are just getting started!

Trae Fenty Named First Recipient of L. Don Ridgeway Humble and Kind Scholarship at TCAT Henry/Carroll

PARIS, Tenn. — Trae Fenty of Paris has been named the inaugural recipient of the prestigious L. Don Ridgeway Humble and Kind Scholarship at the Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT) Henry/Carroll.

A third-trimester student in Allen Ashlock’s Residential Building Maintenance Program, Fenty has distinguished himself through outstanding professionalism, academic achievement, and leadership among his peers.

His accomplishments include earning the gold medal in the Postsecondary Commercial Roofing category at the 2026 SkillsUSA Tennessee Championships and placing fourth nationally at the SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference in Atlanta. His success has attracted considerable attention from commercial roofing companies across the region, with several employers already extending job offers ahead of his anticipated graduation in December.

Established in 2024 by the Ridgeway family and friends, the L. Don Ridgeway Humble and Kind Scholarship honors the legacy of the late Don Ridgeway, a dedicated public servant and respected community leader from Paris, Tennessee. Ridgeway devoted his life to serving others, including 18 years in the Tennessee General Assembly and six years on the Henry County School Board. His commitment to leadership, service, and community continues to inspire students pursuing career and technical education at TCAT Henry/Carroll.

The scholarship recognizes students who exemplify the values of humility, kindness, hard work, and service to others, qualities that Fenty has consistently demonstrated throughout his time at TCAT.

The Tennessee College of Applied Technology Henry/Carroll Dual Enrollment class at Henry County High School, under the direction of Instructor Chewy Jackson, would like to extend a sincere and heartfelt thank you to the family of our beloved former student, Carter Allison. The Allison family generously donated new welding hoods and jackets to each student in Mr. Jackson’s class. The family used proceeds from the sale of Carter’s hog at this year’s Henry County Fair to share the kindness of the Henry County community and honor Carter’s memory. The faculty, staff, and students offer their heartfelt condolences and sincere appreciation to the Allison family for their gracious donation in remembrance of Carter and his passion for welding.
