WVUP is hosting a 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony and Mark Beecher, a volunteer at the Red Cross and U.S. Navy veteran, will be present as a guest speaker at the event.

WVU Parkersburg President Dr. Torie Jackson announced today that the college’s foundation will be the recipient of the largest donation ever gifted to the institution.

The Ross Foundation is providing $10 million to the WVU at Parkersburg Foundation to create a WVUP Technology Center. The WVUP Foundation has signed an asset purchase agreement for the former OVU property in Wood County. After being approved by both the estate and bankruptcy courts, the WVUP Foundation will buy the property and use remaining funds to renovate it.

The wood County sheriff Office is taking open applications for the position of Deputy Sheriff. Closing date for applications on this testing cycle will be January 19th, with the physical agility and written exam slated for Saturday January 21st 2023

The Silent Battle Committee personally invites you to the Silent Battle Groundbreaking Ceremony on Sunday, October 09, 2022, at 2:00pm located at Gold Star Park of Marietta, Ohio! Please consider joining us as we continue this powerful journey of becoming one of the nations first, Veteran PTSD and Su***de Memorial Monuments;

What: Silent Battle Groundbreaking Ceremony
When: Sunday, October 09, 2022, at 2:00pm
Where: Gold Star Park, 801 Lancaster Street, Marietta, Ohio 45750
Why: To break ground to establish Silent Battle, a Veteran PTSD and Su***de Awareness Memorial Monument with the goal of continuing the legacy of Gold Star Park's ability to encourage mindfulness and healing with the existing Marietta, Ohio Gold Star Families Memorial Monument and the Battlefield Cross Memorial Monument.

Silent Battle will be an immersive experience to all those who visit to lay hands upon, to speak to, to share a moment that otherwise one may not have. No judgement, no stigma, just acceptance and encouragement that you are worth it, your story is not finished, and you are loved.

Silent Battle is a life size bronze statue who is fighting the silent battle within. His face and body captures the fight, the struggle, and the terror within. We share our love, our respect, and our message that we are stronger together, that our tomorrow means more than our today, for it bornes opportunity; as our story shall continue...

The Silent Battle Memorial Monument paying tribute to those suffering from PTSD will break ground on Oct 9th in Marietta's Gold Star Park. The monument will be one of ten placed around the country.
