Pasadena City College Foundation

Pasadena City College Foundation We help ensure the growth and development of PCC by providing support that bridges the gap between the college's needs and state-funded resources.

The Pasadena City College Foundation was incorporated in 1979 as a non-profit, charitable, public-benefit corporation. Established by a group of individuals from the college and community, and partially funded by a grant from the Ahmanson Foundation, the PCC Foundation was formed to raise private funds to maintain a high level of excellence at a time of declining public funding. Today the Foundati

on is governed by a 33 person Board of Directors who are civic and business leaders from the community, elected for three-year terms. Funds raised by the Foundation include donations from individuals, corporations, and local foundations. The Foundation Board is also the governing agency of the Alumni Association. Some of the areas that benefit from the funds raised are major capital projects, equipment to ensure technological excellence, programs which provide special services to the students and the community, faculty grants, and student scholarships. Since 2008, the Pasadena City College Foundation has awarded more than 4,200 scholarships totaling nearly $1.9 million to deserving students, and our hope is to continue to bring this kind of help to our community for many years to come.

Just one week left to invest in your future. 🙌🏼

PCC students have until September 7 to apply for need-based scholarship consideration—and Jai Watkins knows firsthand what taking the time to apply can mean.

As a PCC student, Jai received the Ann Peppers Scholarship, which helped with textbooks, school supplies, and other essentials while connecting him with resources and support.

“I really loved my time with the Ann Peppers Scholarship. They attended to every need I had. I never felt like I wasn’t being taken care of throughout the program.”

That support also gave Jai what he calls “breathing room”—the freedom to focus on academics, get involved on campus and serve as Associated Students president.

Now, Jai is transferring to Cal State Northridge to study urban planning and pursue his passion for creating more equitable, accessible communities.

His advice? Apply. Jai says the time you invest in a scholarship application can pay you back “tenfold.”

Upcoming deadlines:
📆 September 7 — Need-based scholarship consideration
📆 October 23 — Additional scholarship opportunities

The first scholarship deadline is September 7!

If you haven’t started your application yet, now’s the time to log in and get going.

The PCC Foundation is here to support Lancers along the way — and apparently, we’re willing to sing about it too. 🎤

🎶 Don’t stop. Keep going. And definitely don’t give up on that scholarship application. 😉

Applying can take a little time, but don’t let that stop you from going after opportunities that can help you pay for books, school supplies, and other essentials.

This past Thursday, the Pasadena City College Foundation joined students, faculty, and community partners at the L.A. County Skilled Trades Summer Student Showcase, hosted at PCC. We got the opportunity to tour the program, met inspiring students, and saw firsthand how hands-on training at PCC is preparing the next generation of skilled professionals.
These programs do more than teach technical skills—they create pathways to high-paying careers while helping build the workforce our communities need, especially as Los Angeles continues its rebuilding efforts. The showcase was a powerful reminder that it truly takes a village. Continued community and donor support is critical to ensuring these life-changing opportunities remain available for future students.
As Pasadena City College works towards expanding its skilled trades programs, the support of our community is essential in creating more opportunities for students and strengthening the workforce of our community.

On June 30th, PCC Foundation hosted an evening in support of Pasadena City College’s initiative to establish a new Career Technical Education (CTE) Center. PCC President Dr. Jose Gomez and Pasadena Mayor Victor Gordo spoke to a room full of civic leaders and philanthropists to share how the proposed center will address the growing shortage of skilled workers and create pathways to economic mobility for generations of students. With special gratitude to the evening’s hosts, Dr. Ivy Lee and Jeff Keltner, this evening was a reminder that the future of Pasadena City College is built through the dedication, generosity, and partnership of a community that believes in its students.

✨ Tomorrow night, jazz legend and longtime PCC music professor
Bobby Bradford returns to campus for a special edition of our
Hometown Legend Series 🎺

The Eaton Fire displaced many Altadena residents and threatened
to erase decades of artistic and musical history. What it could
not take is the living legacy carried by people like Professor
Bradford.

In conversation with PCC Music Department Chair Zachary Matthews,
Professor Bradford reflects on pushing the boundaries of music,
the community of musicians in Altadena, and the past, present,
and future of his work. The evening features a performance by
the PCC Jazz Studies Department 🎶
