In the spring of 2002, Omega Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. was first introduced to New Brunswick, New Jersey. Since then, OPBSI has grown throughout the New Jersey area. The chartering members felt that it was important for alumnae women of OPBSI in New Jersey to have an outlet; a network of sorors who would support each other in a professional and community service oriented environment. Therefore in 20
06, these six alumnae sisters, including: Monserrat Cabral (Upsilon chapter), Elizabeth Cano (Nu chapter), Yisel Lopez (Upsilon Chapter), Jacqueline Mendez (Nu Chapter), Jacqueline Pena (Pi Chapter), and Rosanna Reyes (Upsilon Chapter) came together to charter the NJ alumnae colony. This colony became the Alpha Zeta Alumnae Chapter. As a chapter, we work passionately to continue OPBSI’s legacy of sisterhood and community outreach beyond the undergraduate level by being a support system for sisters all across northern New Jersey.
