There's something about a sister who just gets it. Who knows when to push you forward and when to just sit with you. Who shows up — for the big stuff and the everyday stuff, too.
That's what we've been building for nearly 175 years. And we're not stopping now.

From friends to fairways, Alexandra Riley is taking her Phi Mu sisterhood on the road as she travels; meeting Phi Mu women from around the country while creating new memories with her sisters from college.
From the moment she walked through the doors of Phi Mu, The University of Alabama, she knew she had found home. “I felt the warmth and connection to every single person I came in contact with. It felt so refreshing to be surrounded by women who are true and genuine to themselves and who are there to cheer you on through the good and the bad.” Serving as Membership Director for two years, living in the house and embracing every opportunity to step outside her comfort zone shaped not only her college experience, but the woman she is today.

Now navigating life on the road of professional golf, sisterhood remains a constant. From monthly voice memos with her pledge class to reconnecting with Phi Mu sisters across the country while traveling, the bonds formed in college continue to grow in meaningful ways. As she prepares for a new season of life- including welcoming a baby this year and returning to Alabama- she hopes to give back to the same chapter that gave her so much.

Her advice to young women in Phi Mu? Say yes to it all. Go to the events, meet new people, live in the house if you can and take every chance to get involved. “The four years go by so quickly,” she says, “and the moments that push you outside your comfort zone are often the ones that shape you the most.”

National Teacher Appreciation Day-A day where we get to recognize the people who have made such a huge impact in our lives and the impact they make to our future.

Maci Gibson (USC Upstate) is doing just that.
“My time in Phi Mu and throughout college played a huge role in shaping the teacher I am today. Our values love, honor and truth have continued to guide me and have never wavered. Phi Mu taught me the importance of supporting those around me, celebrating differences and always leading with kindness - qualities that are essential in the classroom.

Phi Mu also challenged me to grow academically, personally, and socially. It taught me responsibility, time management, and perseverance, while providing me with opportunities to collaborate with others and step outside my comfort zone. Through both Phi Mu and my college experiences, I learned how to be the best teacher I could be for my students. Those lessons supported me during my time in college and helped build a foundation in the classroom where students feel valued, encouraged and inspired to succeed.”

Thank you Maci and all teachers!
