Mahalo to our UH West Oʻahu colleagues for a productive visit focused on strengthening our collaborative efforts. Together, we explored ways to expand educational and career pathways, including a seamless transition from Leeward CC’s associate degree in HIT to a future bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management at UHWO.

The conversation quickly moved from ideas to action, and our next step is to begin mapping the curriculum and building the pathway together.

LeeCC UPDATE: All Leeward CC locations (Pu'uloa, Wai'anae Moku, WVAPDC) will reopen and resume all scheduled operations and activities on Tuesday, August 18.

Campus offices, services and facilities will operate on their standard schedules. Students, faculty, staff and visitors are encouraged to exercise caution during their commute, allow extra travel time, and monitor local road and weather conditions.

Thanks to your votes, Leeward Community College was named FIRST PLACE for Best Community College and Hidden Gem - Eatery/Bar (The Pearl) and a FINALIST for Tutoring Center in Hawaiʻi’s Best 2026! This marks our third year in a row as Hawaiʻi’s #1 Community College and our 12th year being voted among Hawaiʻi’s Best.

All Leeward CC locations (Pu‘uloa, Wai‘anae Moku, Wahiawā Value-Added Product Development Center) will be closed on Monday, August 17, due to the impacts of Tropical Storm Lala.

In addition:

All on-campus classes and events will be cancelled.
Only essential operational employees should report to campus as directed by their supervisor. All other employees should not report to campus and should contact their supervisors with questions regarding their work status.
Please continue to monitor your hawaii.edu email and UH RAVE alerts for updates. We are expected to reopen on Tuesday, August 18.

Today, we welcomed leaders from the Philippine Commission on Higher Education (CHED) with our campus oli before connecting with Leeward CC administrators and key campus stakeholders.

We were also honored to be joined by Patricia Espiritu Halagao, PhD, Professor in the Department of Curriculum Studies at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa’s College of Education and Co-Director of the Center for Philippine Studies.

Together, we shared insights on Hawaiʻi’s community college model, workforce development, student success, industry partnerships, and global education—opening doors for future collaboration between Hawaiʻi and the Philippines.
