Dr. Woodside (3rd from left), co-chair of the Social Work Coalition on NC Workforce Development, attended the fall coalition meeting in Boone, NC last week, joining colleagues from public and private universities with social work programs across the state. Afterward, attendees enjoyed beautiful mountain views from Howard’s Knob—a wonderful way to close a day of connection and collaboration!

Last night’s UNCP College of Health Sciences/Department of Social Work Advisory Board meeting was excellent! Members shared valuable ideas and feedback to help ensure our programs prepare students for meaningful careers and respond to the needs of the communities we serve. Grateful for our partners and their commitment to our students, our department, and our region!

On September 12th, a few of our faculty members, Dr. Davis, Ms. Locklear, and Professor Stephens, attended the Sandy Grove Baptist Community Wellness Fair. The event had a great turnout, with community members participating in health screenings, Zumba, and other wellness activities. It was a wonderful opportunity to promote health, wellness, and community connection.
