Researchers in the Department of Geology and Geography are providing free testing of water in Robeson County to eligible households who are on private wells. Their research on PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances), often referred to as "forever chemicals," helps improve understanding of groundwater quality in the community.

The research is supported by NC Collaboratory funding. As part of the project, collected data will be shared with the funding agencies and interested parties. Participants will receive a copy of their individual test results.

To be eligible, a well must not have been tested previously for PFAS, and a record of the well construction that was submitted to the NC Department of Environmental Quality is needed. This week students in CHM 4270 Instrumental Analysis presented a poster session with their final research results from Dr. Paul Flowers' class - just in time for Dr. Flowers' retirement reception after 37 years at UNCP! May he remember us as fondly as we'll remember him!

The Lucille Lortel Awards judges know Off-Broadway excellence when they see it!

Exciting news!
Last night at the Lucille Lortel Awards in New York City, UNCP alumnus Nygel D. Robinson (BM in Musical Theatre, Class of 2015), along with his co-writer and co-star Brian Quijada, won 4 Lucille Lortel awards for their original musical, Mexodus.
These awards include:
• Outstanding Musical
• Outstanding Director (David Mendizábal)
• Outstanding Lead Performer in a Musical (Nygel D. Robinson)
• Outstanding Sound Design (Mikhail Fiksel)

Mexodus is a live-looped 2-person musical starting Nygel and Brian and it is currently running off-Broadway at Daryl Roth Theatre in NYC now through June 14th.

Bravo to Nygel, Brian, and the entire team behind Mexodus! Go Braves! 🖤💛
