UNC-Pembroke Police & Public Safety recently partnered with instructors from Robeson Community College’s BLET program to conduct a Shoot/No Shoot simulation with members of the Criminal Justice Club.

This hands-on scenario based training challenged participants to think critically, make split-second decisions, and better understand the complexities law enforcement officers face in the field. It was a great opportunity to bridge classroom knowledge with real-world application.

We appreciate the collaboration and engagement from everyone involved in making this exercise a success!

National Public Safety Telecommunicator Week!

This week, we pause to recognize the true first responders—the voices behind the line.
Public safety telecommunicators are the calm in the chaos, the steady voice in someone’s worst moment, and the critical link between those in need and those who respond. Every call answered is a life touched. Every decision made is done with professionalism, compassion, and unwavering dedication.

While their work is often unseen, its impact is immeasurable. Long hours, high stress, and split-second decisions are all part of the job—but so is the commitment to serve, protect, and care for our communities.

To every telecommunicator: thank you for your sacrifice, your strength, and your service. Your voice makes a difference every single day.
We see you. We appreciate you. And this week, we honor you.
