As always, this event is open to all UWF students, faculty, and staff so please share with anyone you know who might be interested in attending!

That’s all from me! Hope to see you all this Monday!

Hey anthro undergrads!!

As you know, registration for the Spring semester is coming up this next week. We hope you all have gotten a chance to consider what to take, but we also know that going through the Course Catalog can be a bit of a pain — so we laid them out for you!

Make sure if haven’t already to contact your advisor (for most of you, that is Joseph Printz, [email protected], but make sure to double check) to receive your pin and time card.

Also, if you’re feeling unsure of what to take and want some tips/tricks from those further in the program, don’t hesitate to ask on Discord or dm us here! We are happy to help!

Final note: Maritime Cultures (ANT 3990) and Archaeometry (ANT 4990) have yet to release full course descriptions so their descriptions are based on what has been heard from people in the department. For further information, we recommend contacting the professor and/or Joseph Printz.

Take care!

Monday Night at the Molino Museum was a hit!

Thank you so much to everyone who came out to the exhibit and an even bigger thank you to the wonderful guide, Ms. Sarah and the Mid-County Historical Society. An additional thank you goes to our secretary, Bella Santilli for organizing this event.

Molino, though small, has an incredibly interesting history and the museum offers a lot of insight into the average life of individuals living there across the last few decades. It was also quite enjoyable to see pieces donated from across the Molino community in museum as well as some small artifacts that were recovered as UWF students worked during the Terrestrial Field School in Molino this past summer.

Overall, the tour was very informative and engaging and we recommend to any who were unable to make it to go check it out when you have time. There is are plenty of things to see and plenty of stories to hear from Ms. Sarah as you go along!

Thanks a lot anthro Argos, we’ll see you next time!

Hey guys!

Tomorrow is the big day — it’s our Night at Molino Museum! We have been lucky enough to be invited on a private tour of the museum, led by Ms. Sarah of the Molino Mid County Historical Society. She’ll be telling us all about the many pieces displayed and history of this old town. Free water and coffee will also be provided as refreshments!

The event begins at 4:30pm and it takes about half an hour to reach Molino from campus. UAA officers and others will be providing rides and the carpool group will be leaving promptly at 4. We ask that if you are interested that you please register on Argo Pulse just so we have a bit of a heads up! We hope to see you all there to enjoy this event.

Boo! 👹

While that might have been a little scary, we know it’s nowhere close to the scares that come with grad school, especially with trying to figure out what to focus your career on. Accordingly, we’re happy to announce that next Monday, one of our grad students Gabby Quigley is coming to speak and answer questions about how to look into the academic crystal ball. Though applying to grad school and figuring out your goals can be overwhelming, it doesn’t need to be scary.

We’ll be in our usual spot, room 104A from 5:00 to 6:00 on Monday. We promise you won’t be tricked, only treated with tips on how to move forward in the field! Scare you later Argos!👻

Two days ago, the renowned Jane Goodall passed away at age 91 from natural causes. She was an incredible woman and known for her dedicated work towards furthering primatology, anthropology, and conservation. Goodall’s research pioneered new information on our closest primate relatives, chimpanzees. Additionally, in her career she spent significant time and effort creating and organizing education initiatives that have inspired hundreds of students to pursue science with her same vigor and passion. Jane Goodall will forever be remembered for the ways she touched lives and furthered our knowledge about the vast world around us.

We hope to see you all this Monday, October 6th, from 5 to 6:30pm, as we watch Jane (2017) and gather to remember her life and contributions.
