University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria Educates 262 medical students annually and offers 300+ MDs/DOs in 23 residency and fellowship programs

Since our founding in 1970, the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria has enhanced the central Illinois region by educating medical students, residents, and fellows as well as performing the latest in research. UICOMP has attracted physicians and researchers with diverse skills and knowledge to the region, helping to create a level of health care in the Peoria-area that rivals and surpasses metropolitan areas many times its size.

Kelly Delgado is the recipient of a Robert A. Flinn Student Enhancement Award presented by the UICOMP Alumni Council.

This award supports students in the pursuit of academic opportunities outside of the classroom, such as poster presentations and scholarly work at professional conferences. The award was established by and named in honor of Robert A. Flinn, MD ’59, R ’69, founder of the UICOMP Alumni Council.

A signing last week will lead to new opportunities between UICOMP and Himachal Pradesh in India through a global exchange. The signing established the Alliance for Workforce Exchange and Shared Optimization in Medical Excellence (AWESOME) initiative and was made possible by philanthropic support. The AWESOME initiative is the first step in fostering collaboration in the areas of medical education, research and clinical innovation through such efforts as partnerships, joint programs, faculty exchanges and research initiatives.
