Bobcat Spotlight: David Dowdy, Maintenance Manager, Facility Services

1. What I enjoy most about being part of the Bobcat team is working together as a team to solve day-to-day issues as they come up.

2. The one thing I love about working at Peru State College is that it's never a dull moment. The variety of things we get to experience each day keeps us hopping.

3. A fun fact that coworkers might not know about me is that I love to cook, whether it be grilling, smoking meat, or baking; I enjoy doing it all.

4. The most rewarding part of my job is seeing a student's smile when we fix an issue that they have reported (heating and cooling, door locks, and power issues). Hearing them say thank you makes it worth it.

5. Working at Peru State College has helped me understand that I need to wear several different hats throughout the day, accept things as they come, and realize not everything is a fire that needs to be put out right away.

6. My favorite tradition here at Peru State College is painting the paw prints on the road coming in. This was started about four years ago, and the reaction you get from students and the family members when they see it is a very cool experience.

7. If I had to choose one word to describe campus, that word would be Beautiful. If you come to campus in the fall and see all the leaves changing on the trees, it is truly a magical time, and then in the spring, when everything starts to bud and the blooms come out, that is the second magical time here at Peru State College.

Welcome Week was one for the books! 🐾💙

Our Bobcats kicked off the weekend with a campus scavenger hunt, exploring Peru State and getting to know their new home. The next morning, they gave back through a service project with Project Linus, making blankets for children battling cancer.

Then it was time for some fun! From Bingo and awesome prizes to a packed Karaoke night, the energy was unmatched!

And we wrapped up the weekend with the ultimate Welcome Week Party! Our Bobcats took on the slip ’n slide, cooled off with snow cones, and made plenty of memories along the way.

What a way to start the year! Welcome to Peru State, Bobcats! 🐾
