Congratulations to Life Scout Gabriel B on completing his Eagle Scout service project. Gabriel’s project involved the design, building, staining, and installation of benches at St. Bede Academy’s baseball field. Thank you to all of the Scouts who came out to help bring Gabriel’s plan to life!

Flag Day 2026. Today Boy Scout Troop 123, Cub Scout Pack 3709, and the Peru Veterans Memorial Group and American Legion conducted a flag retirement ceremony in Veterans Park. Every year this same group gathers to remember what the flag stands for and why we retire worn flags. We really wish more people from the community would come to remember with us. After the remembrance and 21-gun salute, the Scouts reverently placed the flags into a blazing fire. The grommets will be retrieved later. Thanks to everyone who joined us or contributed your worn flags.

Peru Boy Scout Troop 123, Cub Scout Pack 3709, and the Peru Veterans Memorial Group just finished putting flags on veterans’ graves in the Peru City Cemetery. For the first time any of us can remember, we ran out of flags.
