Shout it from the rooftops...Shaver's Creek is now open!

For anyone who's new here, let us introduce ourselves. 🤝 Shaver's Creek is Penn State's official nature center and field lab. Located in the heart of the Stone Valley forest, we are a gateway to the outdoors for students and community members alike.

🦉 Swing by to meet our resident wildlife, participate in a program, take a walk on the trails, or just say hi! We've got so much to discover at Shaver's Creek.

We are endlessly grateful for your patience and flexibility over the past many months as we've paused operations to prepare our new parking lot. Our site now features ample free parking with improved stormwater drainage and accessibility considerations.

Please pardon our dust and use caution navigating construction areas as we continue to wrap up some final touches on site. Note that the new parking lot features a different flow of traffic than you may be used to.

Calling all anglers! 🎣

Community fishing days are brand new at Shaver's Creek this summer! Join Shaver's Creek staff on the last Sunday of each month to explore the underwater world of fish and enjoy a relaxing fishing session on Lake Perez.

Our first session is coming up on Sunday, May 31. Whether you're a seasoned pro or a true beginner, we'd love to see you there! Some gear is available to borrow.

The rain doesn't stop our parade! ☔️ We had such a blast celebrating 50 years with all of you this weekend!

For the past 50 years, Shaver's Creek has been a place for people to connect with each other and with nature. Our celebration on Saturday felt like a true embodiment of that mission.

From interpretive hikes to animal programs to connection activities to live music, our day was filled to the brim with nature and community. It was a Saturday full of reconnecting with old friends and making new memories. 🫶

We are so grateful for each and every one of you who has made Shaver's Creek what it is today! 💛

While our party is over, our yearlong celebration is still in full swing. Stay tuned for more ways to celebrate with us throughout the year!

New this summer: community fishing days at Shaver's Creek! 🎣

In each session, we’ll explore a new topic through fun, themed activities followed by an hour-long fishing session on Lake Perez. Whether you are new to fishing or a seasoned pro, we encourage you to join us to bring together the local fishing community, share your knowledge, and learn something new!

May 31: Fishing Ethics and Sustainability
June 28: Fish Folklore
July 26: Fish ID
August 30: Fish Arts & Crafts
September 27: Fish Biology

This program is free and fun for all ages. Children must be supervised by an adult at all times. Some equipment is available to borrow. 🐟
