After 27 years at the helm, Dean Joseph A. DiAngelo, BS ‘70, EdD, is stepping down as dean of the Saint Joseph’s Erivan K. Haub School of Business. Dean DiAngelo will be named dean emeritus and will return to the classroom as a professor of management in 2028. As the nation’s longest-serving business dean, his leadership elevated Haub to one of the most respected business schools in the country.

While his legacy includes vast national recognitions, Dean DiAngelo credits the lifelong achievements of his former students as his greatest success. We are thrilled that his journey now leads him back into the classroom to inspire the next generation of Hawks.

Please join us in congratulating him – and share your favorite memory or message for Dean DiAngelo in the comments below.

Saint Joseph’s University has been reclassified as a national university by the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education, reflecting Saint Joseph’s growing academic portfolio, national reach and years of strategic growth.

Alongside this reclassification, St. Joe’s earned high marks in this year’s U.S. News & World Report rankings, placing in the top 75 best value schools in the nation, the top 75 private colleges in the nation.

“Our moment is here,” says Jean McGivney-Burelle, PhD, provost and senior vice president for academic affairs. “For the past four years, we have undergone a remarkable transformation that includes two strategic mergers, a deep portfolio expansion into the health professions and retention and success rates that far outpace national averages.”

“Cura personalis” (care for the whole person) isn’t just something taught in our classrooms; it’s a mindset our Hawks take into the world.

When Carter Karpinski, BA ’25, recognized how many neighbors in Philadelphia needed a helping hand with everyday tasks, he didn’t hesitate. Together with fellow Hawks Gavin Kuebler, BS '25, Alexander Andahazy, BA '25, and Dennis Coyne, BS '25, he founded Kind Strangers, a pay-what-you-can service providing assistance with everything from yard work and furniture assembly to grocery runs.

Even while working full-time jobs, these alumni are finding time to serve their community and live out the Hawk ethos every day. Read how one good deed sparked a domino effect across Philadelphia: https://www.sju.edu/news/kind-strangers-lend-hand-philly
