General information
Approximately half of the STAR Scholars cohort is chosen each year through the admissions process. The other half of the cohort is then opened to the rest of the freshman class through an application process. To be eligible to apply, students must: - Be a freshman - Have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or better - Have an interest in research and be willing to commit to 40 hours/week of research for 10 weeks over the summer while residing in campus housing (provided by STAR) STAR Scholars are expected to: - Maintain a cumulative 3.2 GPA throughout their freshman year - Meet with and secure a faculty mentor - Commit to and complete 400 hours of research, scholarly, or creative activity during the summer term - Create a presentation-ready poster and present at STAR Poster Day
