Hello friends of research on infant language learning! We do observational research on how babies start learning language, and on what toddlers have figured out so far. Participation is easy, scheduled at your convenience, and compensated well! If you have a child of between 6 and 30 months, send us a note :) We may have a study for you at Penn!

Winter's here, and we're at home working on new studies that you can do from home too, over the computer! We're working on understanding when babies start to understand the words we say, and what they're getting out of their conversations with you. Sometimes they speak back, and sometimes they just listen, but they're learning! If you are interested in participating in a study, message us back or email [email protected]. Your time participating is compensated, and your baby can contribute to science! How cool is that 😎

Dear Parents and Friends of the Infant Language Center,

We're working on a new language development study that can be done online. We'll let you know when it's ready, we hope in just a few weeks!

In the meantime, as we do our work, like you we're living through this moment, in our city and our nation, and we look to the future with both hope and a growing urgency. We're raising our eyes to a future where our leaders work for knowledge, dignity, equality, respect, and the common good, and for a world where all of our children can thrive.

We won't get there if we don't vote. Winning elections is not all that is required, but it is a necessary step. Pennsylvania is a swing state, so our votes count more than most Americans' do. Look here:

Dear community,
The Infant Language Center has been holed up at home for a while now, still studying results of our experiments and carefully measuring speech recordings. We'll start inviting you and your beautiful babies back to visit when it's safe. In the meantime, as we all navigate the new stresses of changed jobs, missing work, and staying at home, remember those conversations with your children. Your engagement helps their minds bloom! Hang in there ❤️

If you are mother of a 5 to 6 month old infant, you may be eligible for a multi-session language study at the Penn Infant Language Center.

The study consists of three home visits and two in-lab visits. In-lab visits will take place at our research lab at 38th Street and Baltimore Avenue. Compensation of up to $150 will be provided.
