The Soft AE program and Kleinman Center for Energy Policy, in collaboration with Arizona State University, held the Science Outside of the Lab - Energy Policy and Applications Program at the Pennsylvania State Capitol in Harrisburg and City Hall in Philadelphia in early October.

The 12 Penn Master’s and PhD students selected to participate in this workshop represented Penn Engineering, Penn Carey Law, the Fels Institute of Government, and Penn Arts and Sciences. The cohort had the opportunity to meet with energy policy experts and policy makers across Pennsylvania.

Study abroad gives CBE students the chance to experience engineering—and the world—from a new perspective.

For CBE Senior Jack Leitzell, a semester at ETH Zurich in Switzerland meant connecting with new people and cultures, spending more time in the mountains, and taking advantage of the opportunity to explore destinations across Europe. At ETH, Jack took courses on separation processes, energy systems, and carbon capture.

Experiences like these are a reminder that learning can happen far beyond campus.

We kicked off the semester with our annual Welcome Back Picnic, bringing together students and faculty for an afternoon of delicious food and a little friendly competition.
