Jefferson is among the top 23% for Best Colleges for Design, according to Niche’s 2027 Best Colleges in America.

This ranking highlights the extraordinary work of textile and fashion design students, including studio coursework, leading industry internships, and immersive, sponsored projects, says Marcia Weiss, dean of the College of Fashion and Textiles.

“Our students advance the design profession through their conceptual vision, artistic talent, and technical expertise,” she says. “The creativity, talent, and commitment of our students, faculty, and alumni continue to elevate our programs and our place among the nation’s leading design schools.”

Join us in congratulating Professor Gertz on her new full-time faculty position in the Fashion Design Department! ✨🎉

Professor Gertz has been an adjunct member of our Fashion Design Faculty since 2024. She is a patternmaker, designer, and educator with experience across the fashion and costume design industries. Ruby is the founder of Slow Fashion Academy and has received recognition including the FSF Geoffrey Beene National Fashion Scholarship, the GPCA Creative Entrepreneur Accelerator Grant, and the Philadelphia Catalyst Fund Grant. Her freelance work has appeared on Saturday Night Live, at the Academy Awards, the Metropolitan Opera, American Ballet Theatre, and in off-Broadway productions. She has designed for projects ranging from theme parks and cruise lines to independent theater and music videos. Ruby is particularly passionate about size-inclusive design and serving the plus-size market.
