Ray Epstein (English/Communication and Social Influence, '25) is on 🔥🔥🔥

Just months after being named Temple University’s sixth-ever Truman scholar, Ray was recently named a finalist for the Rhodes Scholarship, the oldest and most prestigious international academic award available to Americans.

Ray is the founding president of Student Activists Against Sexual Assault (SAASA), an organization dedicated to ending sexual violence on campus and creating a supportive community for all. “When I found out I was nominated [for the Rhodes Scholarship], I was so overwhelmed because it highlighted the importance of sexual violence prevention work. Making it this far was an honor and will absolutely act as fuel for the future,” Ray said.

Congratulations on this latest accomplishment, Ray, and thank you from the English department for your important work!

A late congratulations to English Prof Srimati Mukherjee, who was accepted as a Visiting Scholar at the American Academy in Rome this past summer!

Srimati researched interconnections between Italy and contemporary American literature with a focus on migration/immigration. She enjoyed conversations with a group of international scholars and artists. In museums in Rome, she saw or saw again original paintings by Caravaggio her freshman students write about connecting the artist's context of production with their own lives and times.
