This week’s Market Movers covers major developments in college football and the WNBA!
Five of the AP Top 7 teams lost on Saturday, including Georgia, Notre Dame, Indiana, Alabama, and Texas. Miami took advantage of the chaos, beating Florida State 43–35 in double overtime to claim the No. 1 ranking for the first time since 2002. BYU also made a major jump, moving up to No. 2 after upsetting Notre Dame, while Alabama and Texas dropped to No. 13 and No. 19, respectively.
Meanwhile, the Golden State Valkyries are showing how investment and fan engagement can help build a successful WNBA franchise. Known as “Ballhalla,” Chase Center has sold out every Valkyries home game since the team joined the league, and Golden State finished the regular season with the WNBA’s best home record at 17–5. The team has also reached $100 million in annual revenue and an estimated $1 billion valuation, highlighting the impact of ownership investment in the roster, marketing, and fan experience.
